What is the ClickDeck system?

ClickDeck, from Exolux, is an aluminium subframe for decking, pavers and outdoor surfaces. It comes as made-to-measure kits or lengths cut on site, with Pedestal Pro adjustable supports for uneven or sloping ground and a nationwide installer network and installer program. Its minimum build-up is about 30 mm: a 28 mm profile with a 2 mm packer.

What profiles does it come in?

ProfileStock lengths
28 mm3.6, 4.8 and 6 m
55 mm2.4, 3.6, 4.8 and 6 m
110 mm3.6, 4.8 and 6 m
150 mm6 m
200 mm6 m

Its December 2023 flyer shows only the 28, 55 and 110 profiles. Dahlsens, a stockist, says the frame can be as low as 28 mm and up to 500 mm.

Where are the span tables?

ClickDeck publishes residential and commercial span tables for all five profiles in one PDF. The residential table is for 2.5 kPa with a 1.8 kN point load at 450 mm centres, and the commercial table is for 3.5 kPa and 2.7 kN, with higher-load tables in the same file. We don’t reprint the numbers: each table cell prints two values and you should read the legend yourself. See the span tables guide.

What is the warranty?

Up to 50 years on the aluminium frame only, not the pedestals, finishes or decking boards, for residential installations in Australia and New Zealand. Its site also claims Form 126 (Victoria) and Form 15 (Queensland) documents are available.

Is it fire safe?

ClickDeck publishes a reaction-to-fire report, dated 5 February 2022, stating its 6063 T6 alloy is not deemed combustible under clause 3.4 of AS 1530.1. The report covers the frame, not the boards, and ClickDeck’s site says it suits up to BAL-FZ when supported by aluminium or steel posts. Treat the BAL-FZ claim as the vendor’s own.

What about Pedestal Pro?

ClickDeck says Pedestal Pro reaches 440 mm with up to two extenders. Its page quotes two different load figures, so we don’t publish either; ask for the test report. See pedestals.

Which decking boards work with it?

ClickDeck says the frame works with composite and natural timber decking, which is its own claim. Check the board maker too: see aluminium frames for composite decking.

Questions

What is ClickDeck?

An Australian modular aluminium subframe system for decking, pavers and other outdoor surfaces. The "click" is in the frame, not the boards: it isn't a click-in decking board.

How much does ClickDeck cost?

ClickDeck doesn't publish a price. Its pricing guide sits behind a form, and the FrameKit page we saw advertised $250 off in an end-of-financial-year sale without giving the kit price. Ask for a quote with your deck dimensions.

How do you install ClickDeck?

ClickDeck's surface guide for composite boards uses 10 gauge screws every 450 mm on edge and fascia boards, with pre-drilled oversized clearance holes and countersinking, a 6 mm gap between the board and the fascia, one locking clip per board near the middle, and 6 to 10 boards laid before you fully tighten.
